Declaration Honoring Our Heavenly Mother
We, daughters and sons of Heavenly Parents, stand in solemn and joyful unity to declare a truth both ancient and eternal:
We have a Mother in Heaven!
She is divine, real, loving and present. She stands beside our Eternal Father, united in purpose, power, and glory.
Through Jesus Christ, the Son of God, we have come to know the nature of the Father. And through Christ, we believe we can also come to know the nature of the Mother. His teachings, His compassion, His creative power, and His love bear the imprint of both divine Parents. We honor the Savior by seeking to know the fullness of the divine family from which He and we all come.
Our congregations sing of Her in sacred verse, our young women reference Her as they recite their theme, we glimpse Her in the doctrines taught to us by prophets and poets alike. Her Name, Her role, and Her image are often left unspoken within the structure of our faith.
As faithful and active members of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints, we honor the wisdom of our leaders and sustain our prophets. As beloved children of Heavenly Parents, we feel our Mother’s presence and love in our lives. We believe Her truth rings out to all the corners of the earth.
WE BELIEVE
God is not solitary, but part of a divine union: Heavenly Father and Heavenly Mother- together, the creators of our spirits
Jesus Christ, as the Firstborn of these divine Parents, revealed through His life the attributes of both a Father and a Mother- in partnership together, a complete God, Elohim.
Daughters of God see themselves reflected in the Divine- not only as future queens and priestesses, but as literal image-bearers of their divine Mother.
To understand our divine potential, we must understand the fullness of divinity in both masculine and feminine forms.
When we include Her, our worship is more complete, our understanding of womanhood and motherhood grows, and the creation of Zion is more whole.
Reverent inquiry is a holy act of seeking- encouraged by Christ, who invites us to ask, seek, and knock.
The Restoration is ongoing- and, of course, includes Heavenly Mother in our worship under the direction of the living Christ.
We extend a joyful invitation to all
Encourage the use of “Heavenly Father and Mother”, or “Heavenly Parents” in reference to God when appropriate.
Encourage open and faithful discourse around Her divinity in chorus with the Father and the Son.
Affirm that referencing Her in song, art, and testimony, when done with reverence and respect, is devotion; A reverent celebration of restored light and truth.
She is our divine prototype- and as such we are like Her.
We are here to fuse Heaven and Earth with greater wholeness through Christ, the Mediator of all reconciliation.
As women and men of faith, we will pray in Christ’s name, sing with the Spirit, create under divine inspiration, and testify of truth- until the silence around Her is replaced with a clear and robust chorus of voices united in honoring the fulness of the truth we have been given and the wholeness of our Divine Parentage.
May daughters and sons know their divine identity.
May our Mother be known.
May Zion be complete.
May we return to our Heavenly Parents through Christ.
This declaration is based on the doctrine of Mother in Heaven as found on the gospel library app under the Mother In Heaven Gospel Topic Essay (2025)
